Evan Bailie Mccombie
A post script to my previous messages re my 3rd GG Donald Mccombie.
on 22/9/1824 his wife Christy gave birth to a son named Evan Bailie, baptised 29/11/1824.
Did he name him after Alexander Frasers son Evan Bailie ?
I can find no more details re Evan Bailie Mccombie. A bit of a mystery.
Can you help in any way .
Many thanks Jennifer Whitmarsh.

Could be, but Evan Bailie Fraser (of Balconie and Evanton) was named after his maternal great uncle Evan Bailie of Dochfour (by Inverness). Big slave owning family.

Donald Mccombie
My 3rd Great grandfather born 1790 and died Kiltearn 11/9/1868 . He was a flesher/butcher in Evanton, living 5 Hermitage Street in 1851. In 1861 he was living in Assynt St.
His wife was Christian/Christy nee Ross.
They had 7 children.
In 1841 he was a weaver living in Park Street with his wife and siblings..
I have visited Evanton a few years ago with my sister Libby and could find no grave for him or his wife.
And no records of burials.
Is there any mention of him or his family in your records .
I would be most grateful for your help.
Many thanks Jennifer Whitmarsh.

I am trying to trace my great great grandfather’s grave. He was John Fraser,he died in1879 and was the head gardener at Balconie Castle he lived in the gardeners cottage. He was married to Margaret Cumming. I would be very grateful for any information about him

Black rock rovers
Hi,
Firstly I would like to ask if it is ok to use the picture from rocks 1946 on our social media?

We have been trying to trace the history of the club since starting up again last year. We have hit a bit of a wall. If any one could help us with any old pictures or information that would be amazing.

Thanks

Please do - you are welcome; after all it is a Blackrock Rovers' photo. Good luck in your research. I will have a look myself.
