President Monroe's local ancestry

Dear Adrian
The Munro DNA Project at Familytree DNA has recently found that President James Monroe is definitely closely related to the Munro of Foulis line.

I found your Evanton Oral History Project website extraordinarily useful when trying to track down his potential relatives.
According to Alexander Mackenzie’s History of the Munros of Fowlis (sic), James Monroe was descended from David and Agnes Munro, who resided at Katewell (Catuell etc.) nearby in the early 17th century. Mackenzie claims that other descendants of the family relocated to Bogriach. I had great trouble locating the latter until your website informed me it had been renamed Fannyfield by the interesting John Dearg Munro.
I have now identified some descendants of the Bogriach Munros for DNA testing, so thanks for making this information available.
Best wishes
Colin Munro (Glasgow)
